yassss or pass

i went to sephora at the end of January and grabbed a sample of the becca backlight priming filter.  a friend had tried this and her skin looking so glowing i knew i needed to try it.  my skin is very dry – even more right now in the cold and dry canadian winter.   i was very interested to see how this would look on my face!

what the sephora website says:

“What it is:
A makeup primer to help blur imperfections and impart a radiant glow.

What it does:
Backlight Priming Filter creates a canvas for your makeup, extending its wear from day to night. Infused with three unique Filtering Luminescent Pearls, each one adds a different drop of diffused light. Blended together, they impart a one-of-a-kind, lightweight, whipped fluid that creates a smooth canvas and acts as an instant filter, while the vitamin E-enriched formula minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Backlighting acts as an instant filter, creating a diffused, soft-focused radiance that allows your complexion to catch light for a glowing look. Infused with Becca’s proprietary blend of crushed pearls, this primer achieves a lit-from-within, healthy-looking effect. ”

what sparklez says:

i’m in love! this primer does exactly what it says its going to do. it blurs imperfections while creating a luminous glow. this makes your skin look healthy and like you have that glow from within. it is lightweight and provides the perfect base to my makeup.  i’m not sure it really helps with lasting power but that is fine by me!

final verdict:

this is a big ol’ yassss for me!!!  the becca backlight priming filter gave me luminous skin and worked so well for my dry skin.  this retails for $46 CAD on both the sephora and the hudsons bay website and for me that is well worth it!

end of the year declutter – face products

so it’s almost the end of 2015!!! i’m not quite sure where the year has gone but boy have i accumulated some stuff!  i want to do another use it or lose it in 2016 so i decided to end this year by going through my collection and thinking about what i have and what i’ll truly use.  the stuff that i’m getting rid of will live the rest of their sparkly lives in a couple of places.  Some of it will be going to a good friend’s daughter (Alex if you’re reading this get readdddyyyyy), some will be put aside for a travelling makeup box i’m doing with friends, some will go to my mom and anything expired will go in the garbage.

sooooo without anymore babbling…one category down…a bagillion to go!

here we go!

use it or lose it – summer makeup edition

the spring version worked pretty well for me so here i am with a new summer version of use it or lose it.  this one has more products and more variety of products.  the goal for me isn’t to finish anything up necessarily – if it happens i won’t cry 🙂 for me this is a chance to use stuff in my ever growing collection that i use to love, purchased or received and never tried, and then a couple things that i want to actually finish up (i’m looking at you urban decay concealers, nars concealer, too faced bronzer).  with the exception of the nars concealer i actually like these products but i’ve gotten down to the end(ish) and i want to finish them in order to use new things.

keep reading below to see what i’m starting with!
